Arts and crafts sessions getting popular

We are working with our librarians on developing a portfolio of activities they can oversee and engage in with their library members.

Our Saturday Clubbers prepared 20 activities and provided each library with Craft Boxes containing all the material they need to carry out the task. To help them along the way, we have also prepared a step-by-step manual.

To ensure our extremely popular sessions attended by almost 60 children every week at every library we need arts and crafts material from scissors to pencils to paper to wool. Please get in touch if you have anything to give us. For a complete list of what we collect see our Collect in the UK page.

Once the approach to the activities is familiar to the children and the librarians they can easily substitute any material they have no access to. For example glitter can be substituted with paint.

Rather surprisingly we were told by our crafters that their school teachers are learning from them. The children participate in our arts session and bring their end results to the school. The teachers duplicate what they have resources for and improvise where they lack the material. Pretty cool hey?
